RSS FeedFemale designers on the web
When we talk about designers it always are guys… right? We don’t ever talk about the female artists out there. Women are only good for doing the dishes and taking care of the kids. Hold the presses, some female designers are real artists.
In this article i’m having an interview with Emma Taylor from Twiggle Graphics, she is a truely skilled designer with a clean and crisp style.
Enough of this chit chat and start with the interview.
- Where are you living at this moment?
- Paphos, Cyprus with my lovely husband, dog and cat. I moved over to Cyprus from the UK 9 years ago now and i love it!
- What’s your current job title?
- I’m a Freelance Web and Graphic Designer
- How long are you working in this industry?
- Since i graduated collage in 2003 really. I landed a great job working as a web designer and from there i instantly knew that one day i wanted to work for myself and become a freelancer designer.
- Who are your heroes in this industry?
- Hmmmm, tricky question. I don’t actually have anyone specific that comes to mind at the moment. I suppose since making the leap and becoming a full time freelancer nearly a year ago now, i’m learning so many things every single day. Things i would never have learnt or had the chance to explore with being stuck in a 9-5 job.
- What’s your expertise?
- I’m a freelance web and graphic designer, but i specialise in creating web design concepts in Photoshop
- Which site do you visit on a regular base?
- I’m constantly reading up on articles to help me become a better freelancer.
- www.freelanceswitch.com, www.freelancefolder.com, www.zenhabits.net, www.cssloaf.com/, www.designshack.co.uk/
- Do you work on a MAC or a PC?
- I’m a recently converted Apple fanatic!
- What’s the most used software when creating magic?
- I practically live in Photoshop!
- Do you use any type of library? (ex. jQuery, Prototype)
- Since most of my clients are actually freelancer designers/programmers and agencies i’m lucky enough to be able to select my work and tend to specialise more in front end design work rather than coding as this is where my true passion is. I produce psd website designs which is then ready to be cropped and coded by my client.
- Any tips for new designers out there?
- Research, be confident - believe in yourself and your talent and have fun with it.
Thanks Emma Taylor from Twiggle Graphics for this interview.
